The new and improved Avène XeraCalm cleansing oil for very dry, itchy skin has been reformulated!
This April, French skincare brand Avène is proud to announce the reformulation of its award-winning XeraCalm Lipid Replenishing Cleansing Oil. With a new impactful look, improved scent and a more nourishing and natural formula, the reformulated Cleansing Oil will launch into Irish pharmacies this April.
The Avène XeraCalm A.D range has been specially formulated in France for very dry skin, prone to itching and eczema. At the heart of the formula, the patented I-Modulia® active ingredient, helps to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce itchiness and redness. Along with soothing Avène Thermal Spring Water, the formula contains Cer-Omega which helps to replenish the natural skin barrier. The range contains a minimal number of ingredients to minimise the risk of allergy, the products are so gentle, that they can be used on babies, children, adults and pregnant women alike.
The XeraCalm range contains three products – the reformulated XeraCalm Cleansing Oil, the XeraCalm Cream and the XeraCalm Balm. The balm is thicker and intensely nourishing for very dry skin compared to the cream which is recommended for dry skin.

The new and improved Cleansing Oil has been scientifically reformulated to be even more gentle on the skin and the environment. The new clean formula not only respects the skin and the skin microbiome but is also sulfate-free, PEG-free, fragrance-free, soap-free and comes in a 100% recycled PET and recyclable bottle. The improved formula reduces skin dryness and itching sensations from first use*, hydrates the skin for 24 hours** and protects against the drying effects of water.

- Choose showers over baths and keep the water temperature at a maximum of 34ºC
- Choose soap free cleansers which are gentle on the skin to protect the natural skin barrier
- Carefully pat the skin dry after washing without rubbing
- Try to avoid scratching
- Choose soft cotton clothes over wool and synthetic fabrics
- Apply emollient creams and balms to reduce itching

2 Avène Thermal Spring Water – €5-€15
Spray a light mist of Avène Thermal Spring Water for its soothing, softening, and anti-irritating properties. Spray directly onto sensitive areas then blow gently for a soothing, refreshing effect.
- XeraCalm A.D Balm – €22.50
The lipid-replenishing balm is specifically formulated for very dry, sensitive and itchy skin for infants, children and adults. Apply as often as needed. Can also be used in a compress to soothe localized dryness and itching.
