Finalists For Best Children and Baby Product 2024

Baby care and child-specific products have an important role to play in pharmacy particularly in Ireland as birth rates here are currently higher than the EU average.

The birth rate in Ireland remains relatively high this year with 14.4 babies born per 1,000 residents compared to an average of 10.1 in the rest of the EU.

By offering good advice from birth onwards, pharmacy teams can play a vital role in helping parents deal with the many self-limiting ailments that occur during childhood. These conditions range from colic to paediatric cold and flu.

The Finalists in this Category are:

Matchstick Monkey

Matchstick Monkey was born when new mum, Katie Windridge couldn’t find anything to ease her baby, Minnie’s teething pain. At just one-month-old, Minnie’s pain was constant. She wouldn’t settle and no one was getting much sleep. Minnie refused every teething toy, and Katie’s fingers hurt from being bitten when she tried to apply teething gel. After nursing yet another bleeding finger, Katie realised there had to be a better solution. Inspired by her daughter’s love of monkeys, the original designs for Matchstick Monkey were created. You can soothe your baby’s sore gums as well as care for their new teeth. Soft, safe teethers with a variety of textures. Ergonomically designed to help your baby hold from a young age. Features include: • Teething gel applicator – a fun soft textured teether • Toothbrush bumps soft and kind to baby’s gums • A hygienic approach to applying teething products • FDA approved food grade silicone • BPA free non-toxic and environment friendly • Made with BioCote® Antibacterial Protection • Dishwasher and steriliser safe and fridge friendly.

MAM Easy Start AntiColic 260ml Bottle

The MAM Easy Start Anti-Colic 260ml Bottle is the ideal bottle for an easy switch between breast and bottle, thanks to the patented SkinSoftTM teat that is silky soft and provides a familiar feel for babies. Market Research confirmed that 94% of babies accepted the teat, making it perfect for when mum wants to be a bit more flexible*. (*Market Research 20092017, 2023, tested with 1508 babies).

The patented vented base of the MAM Easy Start Anti-Colic bottle ensures that babies can drink calmly and relax. The ventilation holes in the base, regulate pressure balance and airflow and as the bottle ventilates via the bottom, milk flows undisturbed without air bubbles, feeding without interruption. The result means no more air swallowing, more relaxed drinking, and more quiet nights.

MAM engages in not only in-store displays and gondola end kits with partner pharmacies and grocery stores, but also tries to raise awareness of beneficial product USPs with the help of informative press drops, press releases in publications & digital mummy pages.
