Mark McPhillips is the Pharmacist and Owner at Mark’s Pharmacy in Ardee. Earlier this year, Mark scooped the Pharmacy Team of the Year and the Point of Care Testing Awards at the 2023 Irish Pharmacy Awards.

Mark was put forward for, amongst many other reasons, his unwavering dedication, professionalism and friendly nature.

Said one of his nominees, “As my local pharmacist, Mark always ensures my, extremely complicated, prescriptions, are always ready on time. He orders them directly from my GP for me, resulting in much less stress for me. As I have numerous health issues, Mark takes the pressure off which might seem like a simple thing to so many, but that sort of efficiency is not the norm that I have experience with other pharmacies.”

On another occasion, Mark literally saved the life of another customer. Her mother recalls, “So often we talk about healthcare professionals as life savers, but Mark really was that person for my family. When my daughter was prescribed the wrong medication, which ultimately could have sent her into a coma, he noticed straight away and rang the hospital to go through the error. He made sure everything was as it should be with her medicines before sending us home with them.

“He regularly calls to the house with our prescriptions when we are unable to collect them, dropping off extra sweets for the children and gifts. Quite simply, he cares and has become a focal point for many in the community we live in.”
