Chemist Warehouse Eyes New Openings

Chemist Warehouse, the Australian-founded pharmacy chain, is getting ready to open their second store.

Chemist Warehouse is the newest Pharmacy group to launch in Ireland.

The brand was founded in Australia where it is the largest Pharmacy retail group.

Their stores account for just under 10% of the physical pharmacies in Australia, but there sales equate to almost half the total pharmacy sales.

The international expansion commenced in New Zealand in 2017 where the group now has over 20 stores.

They also commenced opening physical stores in China in 2019 where they already had a very strong online business on TMall Global.

Chemist Warehouse launched their first Irish store in Blanchardstown, in late October 2020.

Despite opening and trading through lockdown, this new entrant to market has received a warm welcome from the public, a spokesperson told Irish Pharmacy News.

“Their footfall continues to grow each day and the feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. We have no doubt that with the easing of restrictions this already popular new entrant to the market will see increased success,” they added.

Whilst the expansion plans have been delayed by the lockdown impacts on construction, the team are very excited to be opening another store soon.

The new store will be located on Henry Street in the city centre in what was previously the Hickey’s Fabric store building.

It is anticipated that the second store for the group will be open by the end of June.

There is also rumoured to be a third store in the Dublin area in the coming months.

The team at Chemist Warehouse are dedicated to providing affordable health and beauty products to the Irish public along with a high level of service.

Having already employed 30 staff in their first store, the expansion is set to see increased employment opportunities.

It is understood recruitment is currently underway. If you are interested in applying please email irelandHO@chemistwarehouse.com
